Aeroplan points don't have a single set value — what they're worth depends entirely on how you redeem them. They stretch furthest on Business & First Class at 4¢ per point, and as little as 0.6¢ when used for Merchandise (Aeroplan eStore). All 5 redemption options are broken down below.
Value per point varies by how you redeem. Best-value options first.
Aeroplan is Air Canada's frequent-flyer program and one of Canada's most valuable points currencies — but only when you redeem for flights. You can transfer in 1:1 from American Express Membership Rewards. The outsized value comes from Star Alliance partner award flights in business and first class, where points routinely fetch 3–6¢ each; everyday economy and Air Canada's own dynamically-priced awards land closer to 1–1.5¢. Non-flight redemptions — gift cards and the Aeroplan eStore — are poor value and best avoided. Points stay active as long as you have some qualifying activity every 18 months.
